He set up his own companies\u2014Edengene (2000) and Leaders Reloaded (2003)\u2014whose strategies included helping large organisations set up new businesses and leaders revitalise their leadership. From 2004 to 2007, Steve was Managing Partner at worldwide executive search firm, Heidrick & Struggles.
