Shadowy Reflections

by William G. Anderson

About the Book

Three teenagers, Blake, his best friend Marsh, and his girlfriend, Krista, narrate their experiences as sixteen year olds growing up in the Bible belt of middle America, facing the common “slings and arrows” of adolescence: drugs, sex, peer pressure, violence and rebellion. But something else comes into play in their lives. Something that is far from normal and certainly not commonplace. They have no idea what it is or even IF it is. Their lives become a whirlwind of aggressive and unpredictable behaviours that make them question their core beliefs and the essence of their own existence.

“This is a gripping, readable story of interesting characters easily visualized, in an expanding human drama, with a twist. It is a fine tale, full of surprises.”
— Conrad Black, Former Newspaper Publisher (The Daily Telegraph, Chicago Sun Times etc.)

“You have to make only one decision about William G. Anderson’s book Shadowy Reflections: decide to pick it up. Once you do, you will never put it down until you are finished.”
— George Jonas, Author of Vengeance (basis of Steven Spielberg’s film Munich)

“A book as large, powerful, and mysterious as the mighty Mississippi River which wends its way through the background of this passionate and artfully constructed coming-of-age story. “Energy,” said William Blake, “is eternal delight,” and William G. Anderson has peopled Shadowy Reflections with characters full of the raw over-abundance of burgeoning self-awareness and the dark turbulence of sexual longing. A capacious, humane, and insightful meditation on the exigent metabolism of adolescence.”
— Roger Kimball, Editor and Publisher, The New Criterion

“Shadowy Reflections embodies the enlightenment and catastrophe that occur in adolescence. William G. Anderson reveals in exhilarating detail a bold, raw, coming of age drama intertwined by three characters’ perspectives. My heart has never raced so much by turning pages. Truly a pleasure to read.”
— Uno Adams, Producer of the Award-winning Short Film, Stuck

“Relationships define our existence as human beings. It is the relationships with those who survive us that define who we are remembered as when we are gone and it is relationships that define Shadowy Reflections. William G. Anderson’s novel not only allows you to peer into the lives of its well-defined characters but also different types of relationships. The writer experiments with relationships between best friends, lovers and families, but perhaps the most compelling is a relationship that he creates between characters and readers.”
— J. Cole Lansden, Independent Filmmaker
