by Audrey O’Donohue

About the Book

Wise Words for a Life of Meaning is a collection of sayings born from the philosophical conclusions shared by Audrey O’Donohue in her captivating autobiography A Life of Enlightenment.

Audrey has lived by the principal that “you create and co-create your own reality.  Nothing can happen to you without your presence.  Your presence is always your choice.”

Whether you read it all at once, or grab a cuppa on a Sunday afternoon for some “me time” and open the book to read the page you find, these sayings will provide you with perspectives to reflect on that will enrich your approach to life and help navigate its challenges.

About the Author

From the day she was born in England, Audrey was not your typical baby girl – a characteristic that has been constant to this day! Audrey started school at the tender age of three. Grammar school followed at age 10. She got engaged when she was only five and jilted her fiancé when she was 11! When she was 15, Audrey immigrated to Australia with her family and continued to live an adventurous life that would be considered unbelievable by most.

Interview with Audrey O'Donohue

Please share a bit about your journey to become a published author?

Writing this book felt like a revelation to me. I sat at the computer and had only to focus on a time and the whole event opened. I could see the people involved, hear their conversations and often knew their thoughts. It was like motion picture in replay.

The book was first published in 2019 and took around a year to write (a few breaks during this period due to life events). Unfortunately the publisher went bankrupt and so I had to find another. My agent found Influence Publishing and connected with them via email. My agent and I have had a few wonderful conversations with Julie and Anita. Julie’s team have assisted in updating the look of the layouts slightly and the font and provided many helpful suggestions. Their designer’s attention to detail also picked up a few things missed by the previous publisher. And my agent read through the whole book picking up all the grammatical and punctuation errors she could find – editing the existing content before providing the manuscript to Influence Publishing, so this 2nd edition is more polished!

How does the writing process work for you? Do you schedule a time every day, work madly when inspiration hits or ?

I wrote when it made me smile because that is when the timing is was right.

What did you find most difficult about the writing and publishing process? What was the easiest?

Nothing about the writing. Publishing was an adventure, navigating the process, but everything is always perfect. I don’t operate with any supposed to’s. I just do what makes me smile at any given time.

What title have you released? Can you share a bit of what it is about?

Life of Enlightenment Vol 1 (birth – 38yo) – This is reading that can inspire and give a new lease and look to life, whether it be your approach or perspective of a challenge in a relationship, a friendship, a loss. It is my life story written in the third person. Perhaps this has been an unusual way of writing a book but it has pleasured me well. I trust the reading gives you as much pleasure. My agent couldn’t put it down and described it as a cross between Dallas and 50 Shades of Grey! The owner of my previous publishing company said in an email to me “The writing is excellent, the story absolutely captivating and engrossing and I couldn’t put it down. I think this book has the potential to become a movie in due course.” These words have been very encouraging to me as a new author and confirm my decision to continue and write Volume 2.

Do you have any new books in the planning or writing stage?

Audrey – Wise words for a Life of Meaning will be published 22nd June. It is a collection of sayings – excerpts from LoE 1 and additionals that encompass the principles I have applied in navigating life.

Life of Enlightenment Vol 2  is next to be written. This will cover 38yo – close to present time.

What would you like readers to know about you?

I am a retired building designer and interior desginer. I had my own company, Creative Homes & Gardens offering building design, alterations and extensions to existing properties. This led to me running evening courses twice a week for 4 years in both subjects with 30-35 students per class. During these courses a number of attendees would approach me with personal problems requesting my input/advise. many of the students became building or interior design clients. The support/advise requested led me to providing counselling and healing, which i continue to provide – I provide insight to point their nose – in their personal life, It’s up to them if they choose to sniff.

With all the experiences you share in your book, you’ve led a colourful and extraordinary life – have you enjoyed it? Would you change anything about it?

No, because every thought, every experience has shaped who I am today.

Anything else you’d like to share?

Those that have read my book previously, the 1st edition, have shared that they have learned many new approaches or adopted new ways of handling life, especially anything they considered a trauma and learned to only do what makes them smile. It would be my hope that readers continue to adopt only doing what makes them smile and perhaps learn from my life anything you need to better yours. Also to question things – ask for what purpose? am I doing something, purchasing something.
